A "Liberty Loan" would put this in the World War I era. In fact, this photograph would have been taken in late April, or during March 1919. A Liberty Loan was the name given to the U. S. Treasury's means of raising funds from the public via bond issues to pay for war work. This photo was printed in The Sunday Oregonian, June 17, 1917, SECTION FIVE, Image 62 with the caption: "The woman's branch of the liberty loan committee started out recently to convass New York with the assistance of the Boy Scouts. It looks as though the correct spelling for her husband's name is Courtlandt Dixon Barnes.
