I was there in the past year or so and took a few shots of that view. I like the little steam powered boat having just pushed off from the quayside. The boat on the left looks very well built with a clinker hull looking very well indeed.

They're not curvy ironwork lamps - they're davits for lifting boats in and out of the water! They look like they were removable but yes they were not to be seen.

Swordscookie Well, colour me embarrassed! I was misinformed on the davits, and thanks for that very useful tag. There were lamps there somewhere though, which aren't nowadays.
