I've eyeballed the 6" and 25" maps of Rockingham, and there are no buildings labelled Kennels as far as I can tell.

Niall McAuley Presumably in or around there somewhere, Niall. Not too close to the house for barking noise...

Panhard 20hp with a visitor for the Gordon Bennett race and various motor car tours held by the Automotive Club over the week it ran, July 1903.

Ben Fagan You think definitely July 1903 then?

National Library of Ireland on The Commons Definitely, at least one other photo taken from around the same position in the J.J. Clarke collection was attributed to the same time: catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000168157 . Not to mention that the driver doesn't match any of the known early motorists of Ireland at this time. Also many came from as far as France to see the Race, which would explain the side panniers for holding tools etc - these were unusual at the time.

The driver reminds me of Mr Toad of Toad Hall, The Wind in the Willows - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Toad
