This is the best photo I have ever seen of Evers, even if it is a tad underexposed. If he played today, he would never make the Hall of Fame. However, players are chosen as to how they performed versus their peers, and he was a great second baseman, better than Fred Merkle, he of boner fame, from the NY Giants.

Sad that the cubbies hadn't won a very recent World Series, even when he was playing.

Pineapple, Johnny Evers played for the Cubs from 1902 to 1913, including both years they won the World Series (1907and 1908).

Wow! I love the DOF. This is great.

Eddie Plank started and lost game 2 of the 1914 Series for Philadelphia on October 10th, pitching a complete game and only giving up one run. www.baseball-reference.com/postseason/1914_WS.shtml
