    This is likely the "William Muchenheim of the Hotel Astor" called as a witness in the New York Attorney General's inquiry into whether there had been a criminal conspiracy with regard to grain and bread, the price of which had risen sharply. The hearings began at the Attorney General's office, 299 Broadway, on Feb. 16, 1915. query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9A03E2D61538E633A... However, it seems both Bain and the Times got the spelling wrong. The two Muschenheim brothers, William C., and Frederick A., developed owned and ran the Hotel Astor, which in this era grew to occupy a full city block in what is now called Times Square. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Astor_(New_York).
