The hulk of USS Baltimore was recently discovered at about 600 meters (1,970 feet) depth, upright and intact on the flat sandy bottom of the Musicians Seamounts, northwest of Oahu. It was there where she was towed out to sea and scuttled on September 22, 1944, after a long and varied career with the US Navy. Baltimore was even present at Pearl Harbor, serving as a receiving ship, during the surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) on December 7, 1941. Below is a link to high-definition video of her hulk taken by one of NOAAS Okeanos Explorer's (R 337) remotely operated vehicles (ROV), on September 29, 2017. She is in relatively good shape considering her age and the 70-plus years spent on the ocean floor. Note also the footage of her distinctive stern opening (added to the ship when she was fitted for mine-laying), that is also apparent in this series of Bain photos of the NC flying boats' stopover in Nova Scotia. oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/okeanos/explorations/ex1708/dailyu...
