Looking at them I wish I could have a chat with them, sure I would find inspiration and a lot of good stories...

The 1911 County Primary School still stands. The majority of the High School was demolished in the 1980s, with just the oldest part remaining. The photo shows the canteen kitchen block, across the road from the 1911 school, shared with the adjacent High School.

    River Wye

This must be low tide. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chepstow_Bridge_with_a_very_hi... for a view at an abnormally high tide.

Some of these captions say Chepstow, England and others say Chepstow, Wales. The town of Chepstow is in Wales. The border is the Wye River. In this view, I think the right-hand bank is in Monmouthshire, Wales, showing part of Chepstow Castle, and the left-hand bank is Gloucestershire, England. A recent, somewhat closer, view is at www.pbase.com/paulthedane/image/4584666

Dark room daze: Thanks for the identification of the River Wye. Swanq: We will fix the captions that say England, and change them to Wales. Thanks for the good catch.

The bridge is a unique and historically important design by the great British engineer and entrepreneur Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The river is the Wye.

Darkroom Daze: We will add the river name to the description. Thanks also for the information about engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel's connection to this bridge. By coincidence, our blog (Picture This) just highlighted another of his projects, the steam ship the “Great Eastern" : blogs.loc.gov/picturethis/2013/01/caught-our-eyes-an-engi...
