Edwin Carman's wife, Florence Conklin Carman, was accused of murdering a Mrs. Lulu Bailey in Dr. Carman's office, in Freeport, June 1914. She was tried twice: the first trial ended in a hung jury, the second in her acquittal. The shot came through a window from the outside--thus the interest in the windows in this image.

pennylrichardsca: It does look like this image and the other one you pointed out: www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/5642874481 are related to the murder in Dr. Carman's office in Freeport, Long Island. This New York Times article gives more details: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.htmlres=F20B17FC385C13738D... We will add some of this information to the description when we update.

Another view (undated) of the same building: www.longislandmemories.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p152... indicates that it is "south west corner of Railroad Avenue and Church Street."
