Before being involved in the oil industry, he was a former secretary to Victorian Railways Commissioner and a licensed shorthand writer for the Supreme Court of Victoria. “Mr Smith's secretary was his wife Pearl (née Earle), they married in 1926. The photographs on the wall; (at left) Australian gunners in action at Gallipoli titled `The bruvver' refers to Frank B.
