Joe Mandot (check spelling) was a Los Angeles-based featherweight boxer in the 1910s and 1920s: www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=229207&cat=boxer You've got another photo of Mandot (under that spelling) here: www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/2515732069/

I don't think this is the Mexican featherweight Joe Mandot, who fought from 1922 to 1928, but the American lightweight Joe Mandot, whose ring career ran from 1909 to 1921. See this more recently posted Bain photo of Joe Mandot.

I started a biography of him for Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Marceline_Mandot Joseph Marceline Mandot (August 3, 1890 - 1956) was a featherweight boxing champion from New Orleans. He was born in New Orleans, and was NOT Mexican.
