he actually makes some compelling arguments here, portraying the american communist party as an arm of soviet intelligence, where the FBI mandate includes domestic counter-intelligence. i can see why this argument may have gained favour publicly, while providing cover for egregious abuses of power behind the scenes, such as wiretapping Martin Luther King and attempting to subvert the Civil Rights Movement.

I remember the Florida anti-Communist curriculum very well and Mr. Hoover's book "A Study of Communism." I wish to thank him for my questioning everything as his extremism was too much to take. I traveled the Iron Curtain as a result and also made a study of the Communist world. Pathological anti-Communism ruled south Florida for years and no one questioned who was actually controlling whom. The rabid anti-Castro crew held us all hostage just as others such as the "China Lobby." Americans are really subject to this kind of ideological blindness.
