  It is interesting that the gun maker W S Woodward appears to have been a practicing gunsmith in London in 1879 when he was involved in an early ballistics identification case.

  It is also interesting that the gunsmith Woodward was the official pigeon buyer for the Botany Gun Club of which the landscape photographer Charles Kerry was also a member.
  
  "He (Kerry) was a splendid shot, and I often drove out to Botany with him and enjoyed meeting all the keen enthusiasts who spent the afternoon at the traps. Many of them afterwards dined at Arthur Usher's old Metropolitan at the corner of Castlereagh and King Sts., where there was always pigeon pie after a Gun Club Meeting. The pigeons were bred mostly by boys, and the lads sold their surplus at between Is and 3s a pair."
