I am looking for the family of Ruth Reynolds. I have her Keel Laying plaque from this even and I was trying to find a relative to return it to. I came across the plaque in a box in a storage sale from 2023 in San Diego, California. Please comment below if you have contact info. I will check back in a few weeks. TYVM

Her married name is Forsythe and she retired in the reserves as a LCDR in November 1956. In 1957, she was living in Chula Vista, CA. A quick search on the internet did not reveal an obituary for her. If you wish to donate the plaque to the Navy, check this website -https://www.history.navy.mil/

Thank you for your interest in Navy Medicine.

I can smell the coal and cinders.. phew! It's a wonder anyone survived all that smoke in the air. I remember what the city of Chicago used to smell like in the 1950's. Every morning there was a fresh dusting of soot and coal ash on the windowsill.

The soot filled air makes for a nice photo, though.

The trains and windows create great leading lines into the picture and make it seem less 2D and more like you're actually there by drawing you in. Also the soot makes it so that the color of the air is never the same color in more than one place and the color gradually changes in any direction you look. I love that this is in color! If it were in black and white however, it would represent the different zones of black and white perfectly.

    Hi!

I would like to include this photo in my ""That's my grandma!" Found Family on Flickr Commons" Data Lifeboat. A Data Lifeboat is an archival format for Flickr photos.

Would that be OK with you?
    Thanks!
