Could this be scrutineering for an early Circuit ( ha ha) ? It looks like a rally as the cars have numbers - the registration on the car in the foreground is English not Irish.

billh35 Inside the marquee, a car has IK 1 or IK 11, I think - that's definitely local. And fire buckets plus big number 2 on car under the edge of the marquee would back up rally idea...

Lores Bonney was an active Qld aviator of the time. She would have been an inspiration for others.
