    Wouldn't this be at Woolloomooloo. The tower thingy in the background would be in the Garden Island dockyard. Darling Harbour was all cargo. To my knowledge Woolloomooloo served passenger ships until the Overseas Terminal was built at Circular Quay.

    grahamH Hi Graham, thanks for your comment. The title of this image comes from the photographer himself, who worked near to Pyrmont (in Max Dupain's photography studio) at the time. Passenger liners did indeed leave from Pyrmont until the international traffic was moved to Wolloomooloo and then Circular Quay.
