    my grandfather died in Japanese prisoner war camp just before the end of the war.

    We had E. J. Thomas as that's how the photo appeared in the Irish Independent so it's great to have Lewis James. It's sad that your grandfather died so soon after this. Do you know how long he was stationed on Spike Island?
