GENERAL O’DUFFY
Sponsor For Doctor’s Child.
—— Macroom, Tuesday.
Gen. O'Duffy visited Macroom to-day to act as sponsor at the christening of the baby son of Dr. Edward F. O’Connor, Medical Officer of Macroom Hospital, which took place at the Parish Church, Very Rev. Canon Barrett, PP, V.F., officiating.
The baby was christened Owen Patrick O’Duffy O’Connor.
Miss Nellie Manning was also sponsor. -

The account in the Hull Daily Mail (28/3/34, under the heading Blue Shirt Baby adds that Dr O'Connor was a local Blueshirt leader. and that
General O'Duffy was escorted to the church by a party of Blueshirts, and blue favours were worn by most of the people in the crowd, which gave an enthusiastic reception.
