    This is the church of St. Denis at Sommesous: "The construction of the church dates back to 11th century Sommesous. Built in chalk and stone size around Vertus, it is Romanesque and classified as a historical monument in 1855. The portal is semicircular and has a herringbone design. The exterior of the apse is decorated with small arcades under the cornice. The apse is vaulted cul-de-four and has windows with columns and capitals. Inside, the church is divided into three naves by pillars rows. There are two side altars, the first is dedicated to Saint Denis, one on the right is dedicated to the Virgin. Meurisse with the caption "Sommesons : l'église entièrement brûlée" (the burned church). gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b9042357v.r=55188 There are as well other references to the town as Sommesons.
