I am the Admin for a new Flickr Group called Ship’s Rail. I love pictures of a cruise ship’s rail. This is such a perfect place for a picture. Please consider adding your picture to our Group. Thank you.

I spy with my little eye something beginning with IPSWICH ! Which indeed implies the 'Joseph Conrad', which came from Ipswich (UK). See - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Conrad_(ship) .

The crew seem to be singing along to the piano accordion - a sea shanty perhaps? Amazingly there are a couple of 1930s videos of this vessel at sea on YouTube - youtu.be/gQmWeePa2OY youtu.be/vVcZLBjsurY

The 'Joseph Conrad' was in Sydney (moored in Double Bay) from 9/12/1935 to 18/12/1935 according to these two SMH articles with illustrations - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/17208142 - including the reference to Andrew Lindsay (see note) trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/17231756

Australian National Maritime Museum on The Commons That's a terrific set of photos - it's like a jigsaw coming together. Author/owner/skipper/photographer Alan Villiers (1903-82) (see note top left) was an interesting character, undoubtedly well known to the ANMM - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Villiers and www.rmg.co.uk/explore/sea-and-ships/facts/ships-and-seafa...
