This picture is beautiful. I am a tennis player and it is refreshing to see how far the sport that I love has come. It reminds me of Wimbledon back in the day.

Samuel Seabury was a New York State judge in the 1910s, and in 1916 resigned to seek the governorship. In the early thirties he lead the Seabury Commission that investigated and cleaned up corruption in New York City courts.

In 1913, Seabury was the unsuccessful Progressive Party candidate for an Associate Justice vacancy on the New York State Court of Appeals. The photo bears Bain's date of August 7, 1913 -- perhaps the time when Seabury announced his candidacy.
