  Mike Grimes It seems the Lonsdale Road did not exist when the photo was taken, this may help with dating?

  Lonsdale Street (not Road??) is not on the OSNI Historical Third Edition 1900 - 1907 it is on OSNI Historical Fourth Edition 1905 - 1957 It seems to be Lonsdale Road in the current maps - did it change from Street to Road?

  Wow! When I think of all the times I sat in traffic looking down that expanse in both directions I can hardly believe that it could be so empty! I wonder what the booth in the middle of the road was for????

  Swordscookie The Streetview is surprisingly empty too. (If you ignore the parked cars.) The little booth has been replaced by a bus stop.

  Sharon Corbet So it has! The lovely colonnaded building on the right below is the courthouse. On the far side of it was the RIC and later Garda Station but it was set well back and hidden from view here!

  The only folks known to eat garlic in town, were made live in that hut. Superb shot! Love the hut design. So empty! Where is everyone?
