The second Mrs. George Peabody Eustis was a Newport socialite in the 1910s, born Rosamond K. Street in 1882, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A Street. Rosamond and George were cousins. When they were engaged to be married in 1908, the New York Times noted: "Miss Street, who came out several years ago, is considered one of the handsomest young women in society. She is an accomplished pianist, having taken part in many amateur entertainments for charity."

The couple had an eventful honeymoon in Europe; George caught smallpox and they spent their trip home in quarantine on the Carpathia.

The Eustises changed their surname to Corcoran in 1921, to perpetuate the name of his late grandfather, WIlliam C. Corcoran. So this woman became Rosamond Eustis Corcoran, and her children were named William Street Eustis Corcoran and Lucinda Morgan Eustis Corcoran.

Rosamond's great-granddaughter is TIME editor Ruth Davis Konigsberg.

W J and Master Corcoran are listed amongst those out with the Wexford Hounds in January 1898. The final result was:

I assume he had himself photographed to commemorate his promotion to Master of the hunt 9 years later. No mention of check trousers, unfortunately.

Also found in Thomas' Hunting Diary, 1905-1906, if you read around the OCR errors, that Mr Corcoran lived at Ballybane House, and was Master.

My grandfather and grandmother had themselves photographed in similar hunting outfits, with similar backgrounds, but I think it was sometime in the 1920's.

Epilsk - It's a lap dog. The cameras at the time required long exposures - people needed to sit still while the shot was taken. The dog clearly couldn't :)

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you imagine what these people would have thought if they had been told that in a hundred years time the whole world would see the picture, thanks to tecnology. At the time they were just inventing the light! In 1877 electric lights were only used by a few people! ... they would have certainly asked: what is technology??
