** translation of describtion ** Second World War, occupation. A Peel-collector (not sure if there is a proper translation for this trade) at the cattlemarket in Utrecht is searching for bones in the peel in the back of a truck so he can bring them to the gluefactory. Holland, Utrecht, March 21th 1941.

I looked up Schillenboer because I had no idea what a "peel collector" was - it's someone who collects fruit and vegetable peels for use as animal fodder. In English this would be called "swill" - usually fed to pigs. So the closest would probably be "swill collector".

Bostock and Wombwell's Menagerie building up for the last time on the cattle market at Newcastle on Tyne, November 1931. The show was auctioned on 30th November, and sold off in separate lots.

I remember the remains of the market until it was removed. For a while I couldn't get my head around the fact that cattle were sold in Newcastle..
