  Megazoom - the inscription on the jug on the bottom step says 'Challenge Cup' which is odd because it's the only trophy which isn't a cup. Below that there's a year. It's not clear but I'd hazard a guess at 1893 or 1895.

  There's a photo of what I assume is Waterford Boat Club (despite the title) given their jackets here with what looks like the same Challenge Cup at the bottom, though turned the other way.

  Yes, it is Captain W. Manning, who skippered the new Sydney Harbour car ferry from Liverpool, arriving Monday 12/07/1926. They hit a gale off the Queensland coast which caused damage to the deck, as seen here. Read All About It ! - trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/246352675
