I don't know anything about the 1954 championships, but 2 years and 3 days ago I came across this monument at Shillingford in Oxfordshire commemorating the 1956 championships held on 11th and 12th October.


I wonder if there is anything similar at the site of the 1954 championship? -

Me arse it is... Doonagore Castle in Doolin, Co. Clare. Even back in those days @@galwaytourism were trying to claim the Burren as theirs, including the Cliffs of Moher.
