He served as the head football coach at the University of Alabama from 1923 to 1930, where his team won three national championships. Wade then became head coach at Duke University from 1931 to 1941 and again from 1946 to 1950, compiling a career college football record of 171–49–10 !  Wallace Wade Stadium at Duke is named for him. — Wikipedia   Player No. 9 (above) is Walter Kenneth Sprague, Class of 1917, who played Left Tackle, replacing Number 8, R.
