[http://www.flickr.com/photos/66105333@N06] Wow, Danny, thanks for all of this wonderful information! I have amended her age to 42 above. Do you know that the Census Online has a facility for you to submit correct information? www.census.nationalarchives.ie/about/census_errors.html p.s. there must have been rampant "stretching" of the truth with regard to age in the census. Every day, people coming here to do family history research say of their ancestors: "But he couldn't have been that age because..."

Almost certainly an engagement ring, especially given the times that were in it. The left hand ring finger was a very strong signal as to ones state of singularity or otherwise! A very good portrait from Mr. Poole! Incidentally you were late uploading this morning - I found waiting for my morning fix to be quite stressful. NLI's photostream has become an important part of my day. (sad or what?)

I love their clothes, you're probably right about the embroidery, as it's the same pattern on the dresses the girls on each side of the mother are wearing -- Seen in my contacts' photos. ( ?² )

NLI have you ever had a family member contact you about a photograph on Flickr yet, I mean there is every chance that there are direct descendants of this family still in the area or nearby. They may never have seen such images, or could have seen them all, who knows!
