the 1913 International Flower show related to these photos was held at the Grand central palace. Unfortunately the building was demolished and I can't find any record of the eagles. The International Flower Show, co-sponsored with the New York Florist’s Club, was the grandest of the shows produced by The Horticultural Society. It was held at Grand Central Palace from 1913 to 1953 and later at The New York Coliseum through 1970. www.hsny.org/about_history.html

I also have to say that she is given way less credit than she should be. Where would Helen Keller have gotten without her? Exactly!

Many people don't know that Helen Keller became deaf and blind at the age of 19 months because of an illness. She wasn't born with it; therefore, it was that much more frustrating for her when she obtained those disabilities. That was probably a cause of her being so uncooperative as a child. Anne Macy Sullivan, her teacher, is shown in the picture by her side. She helped Helen embrace her situation and learn to live to inspire others for years to come. This is a very beautiful photo. Helen Keller is seeing the Library of Congress in her own way. I wonder what she is picturing in her mind.
