See www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/maiden_voyage_mysteries.html 'The westbound transatlantic passage officially began when the ship passed the Daunt’s Rock Light Vessel at 4:22 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) outside of the harbor of Queenstown, and ended when the ship passed the Ambrose Channel Light Vessel at 2:24 a.m. New York Time (NYT) on June 21, 1911, before entering New York Harbor.' According to www.geocities.com/titanicandco/olympic.html : ' When they arrived in New York the on looking crowd must have been amazed. They would never had seen a ship of that size. Unfortunately, neither had the other ships in New York harbour who found out difficult to keep control in their berths as the Olympic passed. The O.L. Hallenbach suffered serious damage to her rudder and stern frame when the Olympic's propeller pulled her in. The Olympic was not damaged (except for a few marking to her paintwork). The Olympic finally docked at pier 59.'

This is what it would have approximated with the fateful Titanic coming into NY, less than a year later. Only the sizable OLYMPIC would be the only one photographed in New York, in this era, thanks to an iceberg.

What an amazing sight as the brand new Olympic makes her grand entrance in New York after her maiden voyage the Lusitania (easily recognised by her funnels and ventilators) passes astern.

aha she was a sister ship to the Titanic and some of here interior trim is still in use in english buildings my grandfather went to war on this ship he always joked that the titanic took him to france but we realised his joke many years later when we grew up he said when he saw the name of the ship he knew he was in trouble but he survived just as well he was not old enough to have been their its a wonder my great grandmother never sued the kaiser
