Jacqueline L. Schroedter

    >>"She is active in the Astronautical Society of the Pacific" This likely should be the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, in which Ms Schroedter was very active. She authored this report on the Society's June, 1962, meeting in Victoria, BC. (There are numerous adsabs.harvard.edu references to her ongoing activity in the Society.) While there is an American Astronautical Society, I couldn't find any reference to an Astronautical Society of the Pacific. Jacqueline L. Schroedter may also have attended Swathmore -- other than this unverified reference there's not much information about her I could find.

Thanks, Pixel Wrangler. We double-checked the caption supplied by Lockheed which says clearly: “She is active in the Astronautical Society of the Pacific”. She was, indeed, active in the “Astronomical Society of the Pacific” (plenty of evidence of that in JSTOR) but there is also an organization (in which, given her employment at Lockheed, she is also likely to have participated) called the “American Astronautical Society.” So, it is probable that the public relations office at Lockheed either conflated the two societies or misunderstood what she told them. We have added [sic] to the caption to reflect that. Effie, SIA
