    The date 8 Aug 1961 can't be correct! Convair was deep into trouble financially due to the flop made by both the 880 and 990 range of aircraft, and they didn't exactly push them out by the dozen every day. Since the aircraft seen is already painted in American colours, and the delivery date to American was 21 March 1963 something is clearly not right.... Stig

Since I don't have any Convair 880 (or 990) dates for their first flights, I wonder if these flights are actually crew training flights before delivery? For example this was Japan Air Lines first ordered aircraft and its official delivery date was 21 July 1961 (one week later). Stig
