Outside the headquarters building of the New York Herald. Another paper published there was the Evening Telegram. Games of the 1911 World Series, between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Athletics, were played in October, 1911. The Athletics defeated the Giants.

Christopher "Christy" Mathewson (August 12, 1880 – October 7, 1925), nicknamed "Big Six", "The Christian Gentleman", or "Matty", was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball.
