Another photo of the Women's Motor Corps, taken likely on the same occasion, was printed in The Sunday Oregonian, June 17, 1917, SECTION FIVE, Image 62 with the caption: "Members of the Women's Motor Corps of the National League for Women's Service have been sworn into the National Guard service. They gathered at the Seventy-first Regiment Armory, in New York City, and were inoculated with the Army serum for typhoid. Then they were sworn in by Colonel Wells. This motor corps is made up of women who have had special training and have received chauffeurs licenses. It has been assisting with recruiting in New York and co-operating with the Red Cross and the police in emergencies. The Milwaukee Journal - Apr 3, 1918 news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1499&dat=19180403&... reported that Col. Baylis said that Lieut. Mary Watkins would soon travel to France with Miss Ann Morgan. She was to drive trucks bringing supplies to "stricken villages."

A later Bain photo identifies her as Adelaide Brooks Baylis, a bacteriologist. See www.loc.gov/pictures/item/91732669/

Her obituary says that she was a bacteriologist who served as a captain in the New York State Home Defense as well and led the American Red Cross Ambulance Service and Motor Corps in New York: search.proquest.com/cv_667311/docview/116891765/1A1BE4B2C...
