The photo was taken at a reception for New York Bull Moose candidate for Governor, Oscar Straus, at the country home of Bull Moose congressional candidate Bourke Cockran, at Port Washington, Long Island, on September 28, 1912. The event launched the fall campaign of the Bull Moose (Progressive) Party in Nassau County.
