This picture was taken at a hotel in Tampa in June 1898. On the same day as this photo Remington made a pen and ink gouache drawing of Stephen Bonsal ... who is wearing the same clothes in the sketch.

Likely not a ship as Remington also wrote Tampa on the sketch. I'm thinking it was a hotel porch in Tampa

This is a great picture. It captures the time period quite effectively. She truly is an inspiration to us all. It's amazing to know that she was the first person who was both deaf and blind to graduate from college. I recently read on Wikipedia that she was an activist as well. I didn't know that she campaigned for women's right to vote.
