Do we know what street that is? Just wondering if any of those stone structures are still standing.

Do we know what street that's on? I'd love to see if there are any remaining remnants from this time.

Ahhh... okay... 15th and Wabash (from the wiki link above). South of Roosevelt, huh? hmmm... I'll have to wander around down there and see what I can find. Google says there's just a park there now called, "Coliseum Park."

Ematu: According to the Chicago Park District website, the park was named in honor of the coliseum that had existed on a part of the site at East 14th and South Wabash Avenues. If you get over there, let us know if you find any remnants from the time.

Accusations by Theodore Roosevelt of theft of Roosevelt delegates by the Taft cabal led to T.R.'s bolting the Republican Party and holding a Progressive Party ("Bull Moose") convention at this same venue in August. The split led to a fracturing of the vote in the November election which made Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic Party candidate, the winner. (Candidate Sherman actually died before the election, and was replaced on the Republican ticket by Nicholas Murray Butler, president of Columbia University.)
