Referred to elsewhere as Cabinet commissioned by Mr. Fredd Schroeter. There's no Schroeter at all in the census, and no Fred Schroeder (most likely actual name).

Date is 1940s, though, so they're possibly recent immigrants.

The catalogue says Copy, and its clearly a photo of a portrait photo, so the date of the original is uncertain. The fashion does not look too long before 1942, certainly not the 1900-15 fashions we are more used to.

translation: Girls fold envelops in the factory of the firm Bontamps at Venlo. After a apprenticeship of 2,5 until 3 months they fold 3000 until 4000 envelops a day. Folding by hand is only used with small numbers and odd sizes. This work is also done by machines. A machine folds per day 30.000 until 100.000 items

Congratulations all - yesterdays image was EXPLORED!!! What is really interesting is that {www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/52460208925/in/dateposted/] has now attracted 311,802 views! In the words of the master of alliteration, the creator of succinct Limericks, our own upside down guru the Beachcomber "Flickr is always amazing"!!!

National Library of Ireland on The Commons I have a thoroughly unremarkable photo on flickr which gets 3-4 views a day, but the total goes up by 200 or so every day, and it's now on 28,000+ views. Flickr say they are aware of the phenomenon of random photos getting a huge view count, and they'll do something about it when they can be bothered. This fault might or might not be an explanation for the 311,802 314,117 views.
