The highest-resolution version of the photo available on the LOC website shows that this photo was taken on East 57th Street in Manhattan. It's not exactly clear what cross-street it is, though: it could be 2nd Avenue, because the block on 2nd Ave. between 57th and 58th currently has a reasonably well-preserved set of townhouses similar to the ones in the photo (though the corner now has a McDonald's).

The car is a Haynes. Haynes produced cars in Kokomo, Indiana from 1905 to 1924. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_Automobile_Company
