Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Sydney Harbour Bridge, and we'd love to have this added to the group! -- Seen in your Sydney Harbour Bridge set. (?)

Building still there and basically intact externally.

Do we know the spot where it was taken?

Not exactly. We know this road is in Burwell in Cambridgeshire. I'll update the description to provide more information. Burwell has a "Ness Road" I notice but not obviously a 'Nest'.

Great - a pleasure to view. It is, as if the whole scenery could be restarted again with pushing one single button. I have almost a movie in my mind, what they did, after the shot was taken...

This toll was in between burwell and Fordham in Cambridgeshire known as Ness rd ! . There is another photo from another perspective on Newmarket history archive site which is in fact one of their mystery photos . Mystery solved ! :) the exact location is marked by an inscribed post on the spot .

I will try to upload photo of this to my favourites .

Booths were added soon after when the collectors complained of exposure to the weather

What year?

Booths were in place by late 1932. As the Bridge only opened in March 1932, and white lane lines went in around June (guess why!!!), this picture is some time between March and June 1932. By the westerly afternoon shadow lines, the sun still fairly high in the afternoon, I would say not long after the Bridge opening in March. They can't be the very first cars at the toll bar because there is already a fair bit of oil on the road from stopped cars.
