Old Town Edinburgh from the Calton Hill

This brought such a smile to my face! I'd love to see it beside a shot from exactly the same spot now.

Wow. Presumably that's Calton Gaol in the foreground? Closest modern shot I could find through a cursory Flickr search is this.

This photograph has been discussed in the Flickr Commons group in Edinburgh: Then & Now This is the shot that gave me the inspiration to do the project : )

Horse and cart from The Belfast Mineral Water Co.Ltd delivering goods maybe to The Castle.... Interesting Football poster in the window (The Castle) and could be Bohemians, that man is reading it, he might go.

The posters seem to be some sort of recruiting poster? They depict British soldiers in bear skins.

Bear skins have been around a long time, if not as military dress, then as ceremonial dress. No help there I think,

The photos featuring Elsie Hanneman and "canoe tilting" were taken at the Colonial Yacht Club, located on the small beach just below Riverside Drive on the Hudson River, roughly between 140th and 142nd Streets in Harlem. Today, the Henry Hudson Parkway and North River Wastewater Treatment Plant occupies this and surrounding property. However, in 1993 the site returned to being a place of recreation, as Riverbank State Park was constructed on top of the wastewater plant, some 69-ft above the Hudson. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverbank_State_Park
