  Consensus seems to be that these photos with "Jeff Davis and the South" were all produced by the same (unidentified) photographer in Corinth, MS. As ambrotypes were reversed images, the sign was itself reversed so it would appear correct in the final product. The backwards "N" did not get reversed. If you look at the full size tif you can barely make out a little bit of the book titles and they are vertically flipped (eg: 0681 rather 1860)
