The sloping mountains and the curved track nail the composition.

The Supphellebre is still there, but is not quite so big today. You can drive by car close to it. If you have time, you might sit down and wait for a while, and if you are lucky, you will see a huge avalanche fall from the glacier at the top, down to the lower one with a lot of noise. This will happen during the day, but no one knows when. An English film photographer waited a whole day, but no avalanche occured. He had just packed all his gear in the car and was ready to drive away, then the avalanche came.

Supphellebreen in Sogn & Fjordane is the lowest-lying glacier of Norway.
  • SveNor said:
This glacier is now divided in two where the low part at the bottom of the valley is doomed to melt and disappear unless a major shift in glacial accumulation and transport from the top of the glacier is re-established. While physical approach to the glacier itself is possible it is stricly recommended to keep proper distance as the glacier is constantly yielding ice rockets.
