I really appreciate sharing this photographs with the community, but is there a way to know more about the photograph itself? All images have the reference of Thomas Smillie, the photographer, but none references the actual content of the picture (where it has been taken?). I realize that this happens because there are no further information about the location, but anyway, I would like to know. Cheers from Buenos Aires! Rosamunda

Interesting expression "a sanguinary battle", which today might mean 'healthy' or perhaps even good mannered, back then (in this context) probably meant 'violent and bloody'! A fascinating bit of history from the Sandwich Islands!
