    "The caption says unidentified but that roundabout used to be at Hull and Belt. Hull is going right to left and Belt is the road going into the distance. Southside Plaza is at the upper left of the roundabout. Midlothian Turnpike is in the distance." from cadeho at RCW

    Southside Plaza Shopping Center... Probably on a Sunday when the Blue Laws prevented Sunday opening.... Only the Standard Drug store was open... The Big screen in the back ground was the drive in theater may still be open. The traffic circle was known as "McGuire Circle"

    The cars are in front of the Peoples Service Drug Store that was in the center. Standard Drug wasn't a tenant. Giant Food is on the left end of the shopping center, and Sears was at the other end, with JC Penney right around the middle.

    Running parallel to the Belt Boulevard and just to the left of the water tower is the Atlantic Coast Line spur track from "Shops" Yard in south Richmond, meeting up with the main lines at Meadow towards the top of the photo.

    The first committee meeting was held in January 1914 and during 1916 the present church site was purchased from Mary Graham. After a £500 bequest was left by Peter Margach for the building fund it was decided that a church should be built. The church construction was commenced early in 1918 but the framework was flattened during a cyclone in March. The building contractor, Frank Robson, replaced the framework, and the church was completed and officially opened in November 1918. In 1925, the ground under the church was excavated and a concrete hall was built by Peter Van Leeuwen, made possible from another bequest of £499 from Mary Kate Margach.
