    This is a classic and a great image of the time that was in it. The turkeys were stopped the same way they are today with string on wings and feet as morrisoxfordV says, or else each in tied sacks. The one thing for sure is they were all fresh! Apropos your tags - I see lots of 'yokes' if you know what I mean but no yokes. Have you see something I've missed? I know I'm getting to be like a bat but I can see what matters - usually!

Wasn't entirely sure about yoke, but hadn't time to check (and playing Devil's Advocate with myself, decided that yoke has endless meanings in Hiberno-English). Thought yoke was the sticky outy (technical term) bit of the cart either side of the horse or donkey. Just googled and yoke is apparently more the double collar of oxen, etc. So, what are the sticky outy bits called?

    None of the park's corners has a rounded fence today. Also the cobbled surface and the tramways have long been gone. Ironically, there are as many carts and horses in the picture as there are nowadays. Some things never change :)
