The wooden halls look like prototypes for the new suburban churches of the post-war Dublin suburbs. They could be the inspiration for Donnycarney or Finglas or Whitehall or any of a dozen other optimistically sized eyesores. I'd imagine they're actually mess halls.

trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/71221501 - this pic appeared in the Australian Town and Country Journal on 9th November, 1895...it was used to fill out an article on Sydney wool brokers etc Harrison, Jones & Devlin...the T&CJ didn't indicate the location ...see pic on first page of link...
