I think it's this fellow: "The Right Reverend George Henry Somerset Walpole (9 November 1854 – 4 March 1929) was an Anglican priest, teacher and author. After early service in the west of England he moved first to Auckland, New Zealand, and then to New York, before returning to England. Information there includes: "'MAXIMO CASTILLO' ~ ostensibly taken while he was under guard at FORT BLISS, TEXAS ~ General Maximo Castillo - for a while, was one of Pancho Villa's men, and was also known as a 'gentleman' train robber -- he robbed the Americans but did not harm them ~ he died in Cuba in 1919"

Somebody did some research on him recently; See www.bloglovin.com/m/1328467/157712615/s/0/aHR0cCUzQSUyRiU... A picture of him with American guards confirms his identity. This also explains why the Americans are not captioned by Bain.

swanq: Thank you for your research on Maximo Castillo and the links to the similar photos of him. We will add some of the information to the record when we update.

www.produccionesalianza.mex.tl/176993_Maximo-Castillo-El-... has a lot of information about Castillo in Spanish -- which I do not read. However using Google's translation service, it would appear that Castillo wrote his memoirs while imprisoned in the US and gave the manuscript to his wife when she visited him in Fort Wingate (where he was transferred form Fort Bliss) in 1915. He was eventually released and went to Havana, where he died in 1919.
