  Scout leader is William McCrum (d.1932) son of Robert Garmany McCrum who established a linen manufacturing mill near Armagh and built the village of Milford to house the workers for his factory. His son William, pictured here was not a businessman but was more concerned with the well being of the villagers. He captained the local football team as well as being scoutmaster.   I thought this scene reminded me of the countryside east of Waterville, Co. Kerry, but the mountains look wrong. Some of you may be interested in this piece about the ‘Photo Detectives Exhibition’ that I wrote for the Irish Catholic newspaper.

  Niall McAuley Interesting. I'd have thought it was the glens of Antrim - up the back of Glenarm or similar. Edit: Although if catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000564089 is also near, it's down the west alright - we had that one before and it was Sligo or Connemara, I think Edit edit: Or possibly Wicklow, now I come to think of it.
