A number of papers reported (obviously erroneously) in February, 1916 that she had been executed as a spy: "ACTRESS SHOT AS A SPY CLEVELAND, Feb. 15—Sari Petrass, Hungarian actress, has been executed as a spy. She was noted over the continent as a beauty. Hungarians of this city just received word that she was caught obtaining information from Austrian officers and sending it to England." chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn88085187/1916-02-15/ed-...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sári_Petráss "Sári Petráss (November 5, 1888 – September 9, 1930 at Antwerp) was a Hungarian operetta actress and singer. In the 1910s and 1920s, she played leading soprano parts in Budapest, Vienna, London and on Broadway. According to Richard Traubner, Sári Petráss and Sári Fedák remain "the two best-remembered Hungarian female operetta stars of all time." "In March 1917 Petráss married Felix A. E. Soerlmerhoff [note added 3/7--actually Sommerhoff], a broker from Cedarhurst, New York."

I can see how she would have been a hit--handsome woman, and. . . with a voice! Lovely portrait.

The Sunday Oregonian, March 25, 1917, SECTION FIVE, Image 70 printed a cropped version this photo with the caption: "Sari Petrass, one of the prettiest of the English light opera prima donnas, now in this country, has been married to Felix Sommerhoff, a broker of New York. She is a native of Hungary, but was for many years one of the favorites of the London stage. She is 28 and Felix is 31. He has a home in the Cedarhurst colony on Long Island." oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn83045782/1917-03-25/ed-1/se...
