Spot the differences, apart from the name! ...

Evidently the building was originally designed without a tower - it was a last-minute addition (in 1894) - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/13965200 " ... unless a tower were added it would have a very squatty appearance. ... " But then there was not enough money for a clock! (1896) - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/111038255

A real display of pride in one's workplace, rarely seen in the early years of the 21st Century!

It is a War Memorial Gardens for tramways employees. This photo dated as 1919 on Wikipedia and Sydney Architecture sites - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rozelle_Tram_Depot www.sydneyarchitecture.com/GLE/GLE39.htm

The tradition continues - we have a small memorial garden at the local bus depot

beachcomber australia Good to see in that Wikipedia link that "In 1926 and 1928 the gardens within the Depot grounds had won the Garden Competition between the tram depots." And "the depot ceased operations on 22 November 1958 upon closure of the Glebe line." AB

Does anyone know what this room was for - dining, hall, chapel?

It is a wonderful photo, full of ghosts which had not yet happened.

Exterior -

It was the recreation hall and chapel, with male and female dining halls either side behind retractable iron shutters, so that a larger space could be made. Read all about it - trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/13591166
